| | FavSeeker is a utility for verifying and deleting URL links.
It identifies “bad” URLs (Uniform Resource Locator; i.e. a web address with HTTP://, FTP://, etc.) by trying to open the URL. If it cannot open it, an error entry will be added to the error log.
Note: A “bad” URL should not be deleted right away as it may just mean that the web site is down for maintenance or some other reasons. It is recommended to keep a history of those verifications before deleting such a URL. Deleting a URL in FavSeeker deletes the same URL in your Favorites folder; i.e. it will not show up anymore as a Favorite in Internet Explorer.
Note: FavSeeker will add basic history to all your Favorites (.URL files) when it is started. If you do not want your URL files modified, do not install or run FavSeeker. If you decide to uninstall FavSeeker, you can remove that extra information from your URL files by selecting “Tools/Clean up URL Files…”
There is no help file with this software but there is some useful information that can be read by selecting “Help/Tip of the Day…”
This is the Beta release of FavSeeker and therefore, it has limited functionality in one area: you can only verify up to 25 URLs (which is all you will see in the Favorites tree view). Release 1.0 may or may not be freeware/shareware; it will all depend on the interest generated by FavSeeker…
